FAQs
Q: How does Columbia support its diverse student population?
We support students in myriad ways. The co-directors of Academic DEI are largely in charge of academic, curricular, and faculty-based issues, which ultimately work to support students’ classroom experiences. Student Diversity and Inclusion, formerly known as Multicultural Affairs, is a place for students to receive direct student services, join student groups, and engage in various programming. Their office is located at 618 S. Michigan Ave, Suite 400.
Q: Who should I speak to regarding an issue in my classroom or workplace?
Depending on the issue, you may have various options.
- If you have an issue with a faculty member and you cannot speak to them directly, you can speak to the department chair of the respective department.
- If you feel the issue is based in diversity issues related to course content of faculty/student interactions, please contact the co-directors of Academic DEI at dei@colum.edu or the Dean of Students.
- If you are a staff member and have a workplace issue, please contact Human Resources.
- If your issue requires immediate attention, please contact Campus Safety and Security.
