Columbia Core Curriculum
The Columbia Core provides an educational foundation in the undergraduate curriculum that is essential to any creative career. The Columbia Core is required to fulfill general education requirements for all undergraduate students and does not include courses needed for a student's major.
Columbia Core Requirements
30 total credits, completed in the following categories:- Aesthetics and Creative Expression - 1 course, 3 credits required
- Quantitative Reasoning - 1 course, 3 credits required
- Communication - 1 Writing course + 1 additional course, 6 credits required
- Historical and Cultural Understanding - CCCX +1 additional course, 6 credits required
- Scientific Discovery - 1 course, 3 credits required
- Additional Core-designated classes - 3 courses, 9 credits required/li>
