Columbia College Chicago provides Adjunct Professors of Instruction the following benefits:
Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement (ICHRA): The college partners with Liferaft to provide an ICHRA to active eligible employees. An ICHRA is an account set up by the college to directly reimburse you for qualifying health insurance premiums for you and your eligible dependents. To qualify for an ICHRA you must be enrolled in an individual health coverage health insurance without tax credits to participate, plans must not be linked to an employer or group plan, eligible plans are typically purchased on healthcare.gov or state insurance websites, if you already have a qualifying plan, you do not need to change plans and being a dependent on a qualifying plan satisfies the coverage requirement. Spouses and dependents must also be enrolled in a qualifying coverage to submit claims for their health premiums.
Wellness Progam: The college has partnered with Aon to provide a non-health insurance wellness membership program. The program offers a variety of benefit options for you and your spouse/domestic partner and eligible IRS dependents. You will have access to trained customer service associates to address questions and provide assistance. Wellness benefits include: physician and counseling (telemedicine, patient advocacy, medical bill negotiation, life events counseling, eDoc America, 24/7 nurse line. Discount medical and wellness benefits (vision & dental savings, chiropractic care, lab services, pre-paid diagnostic imaging, CVS Minute Clinic discount). Prescription savings (retail, Rx savings/open formulary). Not all services are available in all states.
Commuter Benefits: Set aside pre-tax dollars for your commuter expenses (CTA/RTA, and parking). Enroll prior to the 10th of the month for an effective date of the 1st of the following month. You can set aside up to annual IRS allowed per month deduction for transit and/or partking expenses.
Employee Discount Program: PerkSpot is a trusted discount program providing access to exclusive and unbeatable deals from top brands across 25+ savings categories. From apparel and food to home and auto, the saving opportunities are endless. PerkSpot is a one-stop online shop with exclusive discounts that help you save money on many of your favorite national and local merchants. It is completely free and optimized for use on any device desktops, tablets, and phones.
Save for Retirement: Set aside money, up to the annual IRS maximum, for your retirement on a tax-deferred basis with TIAA. When you save through a tax-deferred savings plan (TDSP), your savings are not declared as current income for tax purposes. This reduces your reportable income, thus lowering your taxes and making more money available for savings. In addition, the earnings on the TDSP accumulate tax free until retirement. When you begin to receive your accumulated savings in the TDSP after retirement, you will usually pay less taxes because your total income will be lower. You can also set aside after-tax money for retirement by enrollling in a TIAA ROTH plan.
Tuition Remission: Tuition remission at Columbia College Chicago is available to employees and eligible dependents who complete an online tuition remission form in MyC Self Service/PeopleSoft, prior to the start of the semester in question. Employees are eligible for up to a maximum of 6 credit hours. These credits may be used in the semester earned or within 1 year from the time accrued. Dependents are eligible for up to 3 credit hours. These credits must be used in the semester in which the employee earned them.
Employee Assistance Program: Professional and confidential counseling services are available for employees and family members to assist with work, family, grief, depression, and drug or alcohol abuse issues. Resources include telephone crisis line and online access.
