Keri Walters serves as Columbia College Chicago's first registrar. Walters oversees all operations in the Office of the Registrar related to student registration, degree evaluation, transfer articulation, curriculum management, the College Catalog, enrollment reporting, compliance with the Family Education and Right to Privacy Act (FERPA), academic scheduling and the academic calendar, and ensures the integrity of student academic records. In this role, Walters is focused on leveraging systems to serve students more efficiently. In 2018, the Office of the Registrar implemented a new course numbering system college wide, as well as a new curriculum workflow management system. Under her leadership, the Office of the Registrar will also be rolling out a new degree audit and academic planner in the 2019-20 academic year. Walters is an active member of the college’s Enrollment Management committee.
Prior to her appointment as registrar in 2016, Walters served as assistant provost for Academic Services in the Office of the Provost. Since 1997, Walters has held a range of roles at the college in the School of Fine and Performing Arts Dean’s Office, the College Advising Center, the Career Planning and Placement Office, and the Dance department. Prior to joining Columbia, she worked in the Office of Residence Life at Loyola University Chicago.
Walters has given several presentations at professional conferences, including National Academic Advising Association (NACADA), Illinois Academic Advising Association (ILACADA), and National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA). She recently served on Columbia’s Strategic Planning Committee and chaired the Optimizing Enrollment subcommittee.
Walters holds an MS in College Student Personnel from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and a BA in Theatre and Music Theory from Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio.
