The following list reflects some of the current AI tools that you may want to experiment with, however this list is neither exhaustive nor an endorsement. Please recognize that when signing up for many of these “free” tools you are submitting your content (prompts and responses) to the AI as part of their data set. This improves the accuracy of the AI but means your content effectively becomes part of the AI model.  

Chat GPT:  This tool is a chatbot that can generate text, translate languages, write different kinds of creative content, and answer your questions in an informative way. FREE. 

Google Bard: Bard uses the internet to give answers to questions, rather than giving web pages and web links like a search engine would. It can also write essays and poems. FREE. 

Perplexity AI: Answers questions with citations.  

Copy AI: Answers questions but can also create content like blog posts or message content. 

Bing AI: Wants you to use Microsoft Edge (and cannot use with SafeSearch). Does have a waitlist.  

YouChat: Works. Also gives related Web search results. FREE.

Writing Help

ChatSonic/WriteSonic: Conversational AI chatbot. Free 10,000 word trial then a cost.  Includes AI article writer, including ads and social media writing.  It also has a citation generator. 

Jasper AI: Free trial then a cost.  Made for copywriting.  

Quillbot: This tool is a free generative artificial intelligence tool that can be used to rewrite text, proofread documents, and generate creative content. This can be useful for students who are working on essays, research papers, or other creative projects.  There is a FREE and premium (cost) version.  

AI Writer: This tool uses AI to generate marketing materials (slogans, hashtags, product descriptions, webpage copy).  

Grammarly: This tool uses AI to detect and correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors. It also offers suggestions for improving sentence structure, vocabulary, and writing style. Spelling, grammar, and punctuation are FREE. Other services such as sentence rewriting or plagiarism detection have a cost.   

Hemingway Editor: This tool analyzes text and provides suggestions for simplifying and clarifying sentences. It highlights lengthy, complex sentences and common writing errors, such as passive voice and adverb overuse.  

ProWritingAid: This tool provides a detailed analysis of writing style, grammar, and spelling. It also offers suggestions for improving readability, repetition, and sentence structure.  

LanguageTool: This tool checks grammar, spelling, and style in over 20 languages. It offers suggestions for correcting errors and improving sentence structure.  

Writefull: This tool provides feedback on writing by analyzing text against a large database of language usage. It suggests alternatives for improving phrasing, word choice, and sentence structure. Requires download and addition to Word. Limited tools without a membership.  Somewhat FREE. 

Content Summary

Eightify: This tool summarizes YouTube videos and includes links to key segments. Three FREE per week and then a cost.   

Summarize Tech: This tool summarizes YouTube videos and includes links to key segments.  Unlimited use but not as thorough as Eightify.   

Resoomer: This tool can summarize any type of text, including web pages and documents. It also provides a highlighter feature that highlights the most important parts of the text.  

SMMRY: This tool provides a concise summary of any text and allows users to adjust the length of the summary. It also provides a score that indicates the level of summarization achieved.  

Image and Artwork Creation

DALL-E 2: This tool is an image generator that can create images from a text description or can modify images. 15 credits a month for free; then paid. Often overloaded.   

Midjourney (via Discord): This tool is an image generator that can create images from a text description. About 25 free images then paid.

DeepAi: DeepAI provides a range of free AI tools, including generative models for text and images. It also offers APIs for developers to integrate these models into their applications.  

DeepDream: A Google project that uses convolutional neural networks to generate dream-like images. Higher resolution images require a subscription (called “energy packs”).  100 free “points” (one image is around 5 to 10 points).   

ArtBreeder: An online tool that allows users to create unique images by combining different artistic styles and attributes. 10 credits a month free, then monthly subscriptions. Uploads are 75 cents each.   

Hotpot AI Art Generator: This tool is a free online tool that allows users to create AI-generated avatars from their photos. 15 credits a day for free.  

Craiyon: Free online AI generator from text.   

Stable Diffusion Online: This tool lets you enter a basic prompt and generate AI images for free.   

Avatar Creation

Starry AI: This tool is a free online tool that allows users to create AI-generated avatars from their photos or drawings. 5 free credits.   

FacePlay: This tool is a free app (phone only) that allows users to create AI-generated avatars from their photos.  

Dawn: This tool is a free app (phone only) that allows users to create AI-generated avatars from their photos.  

Text to Speech

Murf.ai: This tool is a text-to-speech tool that can generate audio from text. FREE trial has no downloads, just 10 minutes of voice generation, then a cost.   

Speechify: This tool is a text-to-speech tool that can generate audio from text.  Three-day free trial then $139 a year. You must cancel or you will be billed.  

NaturalReader: This tool converts text to speech. It offers a variety of reading speeds and a highlighter feature that follows along with the spoken text.  

ResponsiveVoice: This tool provides text-to-speech conversion in multiple languages and voices. It offers a variety of speaking styles and allows users to adjust the speaking rate and volume. FREE version is limited and cannot be for commercial use.  

Music Creation

Tone Transfer: is a free online tool that allows users to transfer the style of one song to another. Simply upload two songs, and Tone Transfer will generate a new song that sounds like the first song, but with the style of the second song.  

Open AI Jukebox: is a free online tool that allows users to generate music by simply typing in a genre, mood, and tempo. Jukebox will then generate a full song based on your input.  

Magenta Studio: is a free online tool that allows users to create music by simply drawing a line. Magenta Studio will then generate a full song based on your drawing.  

Music Detection

Shazam: is a app that can identify songs from your browser (Chrome add-on).

Writer AL Content Detector: This tool is a free generative artificial intelligence tool that can be used to detect AI-generated text.  

Copyleaks AI Detector: This tool is a free generative artificial intelligence tool that can be used to detect AI-generated images.  

Machine Learning and Coding

GitHub Copilot: This tool is an AI code generator that can help you write code by suggesting lines of code based on what you have already written. Free trial then cost. Good at entry level. Complex may have run time errors.  

Google Colaboratory: Google Colaboratory is a free Jupyter notebook environment that allows users to run Python code and access pre-trained machine learning models, including generative models. It can be used for teaching and research in various domains.  

TensorFlow: TensorFlow is an open-source machine learning framework that supports a variety of deep learning models, including generative models. It is widely used in research and education for tasks such as image and text generation.  

Magenta: An open-source project by Google that provides various generative AI models for music and art.  

PyTorch: PyTorch is another popular open-source machine learning framework that supports deep learning models, including generative models. It is known for its flexibility and ease of use.  

Hugging Face [Transformers]: Hugging Face is a popular open-source library that provides pre-trained models for natural language processing, including generative models such as GPT-2 and GPT-3. It also offers tools for fine-tuning these models on custom datasets.
